We're open – the Schwarzwaldhaus opens its doors

After almost two decades of restoration, a dream comes true

There are places you enter and immediately sense: something is different here. Schwarzwaldhaus Wolftal is such a place. Nestled in the gentle hills of the Wolftal, surrounded by firs and the quiet sound of the Wolfach, it has stood since 1938 as a silent witness to Black Forest building craft. And from March 2026 we can finally share this place with you.

A love that lasted almost two decades

When we first stepped into the house a few months ago, it was love at first sight – and at the same time a tremendous task. It was immediately clear: this place is something special. The listed building needed people who understand its history, feel its soul and are ready to give it the attention it deserves.

We did not simply acquire a house. We discovered a special place with a magical effect, and we will continue the story and share the beauty of the house with many people. We sense what it means to commit to something larger than yourself.

For almost two decades the house was restored by the previous owner Waldemar Zeuner and his partner Gertraude Nitsche. Not in haste, but with care. Traditional craft techniques, regional materials, countless conversations with conservation officers and local craftspeople. We were told there were moments of doubt, but far more often moments of wonder – when a beautiful detail emerged beneath layers of old paint, or a historic window shone in full splendour once more.

From March 2026: your retreat in the Black Forest

Now the time has come. From March 2026 we open the doors of the Schwarzwaldhaus to guests looking for more than just accommodation. Four floors, space for up to 12 guests, a historic festival hall with more than 6 metres of ceiling height and a 13,000-square-metre private park with its own spring well and direct river access – all of this is waiting for you.

Whether a family holiday with children racing through the park, a retreat with friends in the quiet of the forest, a creative weekend in the festival hall or simply a few days just for yourselves – the Schwarzwaldhaus offers the setting for moments that stay.

What awaits you

We have furnished the house so that you feel welcome at once. Modern comfort – fast internet via Starlink, a fully equipped kitchen, Smart TV – meets the charm of historic details: the original tiled stove, the hand-crafted wooden banisters, the floorboards that tell a story of their own.

Outside, the Black Forest awaits in all its splendour. The Burgbach waterfall, one of the highest free-falling waterfalls in Germany, is only 700 metres away. The Alternative Wolf and Bear Park is five minutes away. And the premium walking trails start practically at the door.

We do not rent out a holiday house. We share a place that is close to our hearts – and hope you will love it as much as we do.

Personal, warm, genuine

As the Bains-Terschawetz family, we stand behind this project with everything we have. We are not an anonymous holiday-house agency – we are people who love this place and look after it ourselves. For questions, wishes or simply a tip for the best walk of the season, we are here for you.

We are already taking the first bookings. If you are looking for a truly special place in the Black Forest – a place with soul, history and a view that lets everyday life fall away – we look forward to welcoming you soon in the Wolftal.
